From: Rural Schools Collaborative. New Milford High School is one of the many Connecticut schools committed to sourcing local food for cafeterias during the 2019-2020 school year through the Put Local On Your Tray initiative. Working with the Northwest Food Hub, New Milford’s schools are serving around 10-15% locally sourced ingredients every week and some weeks reach nearly 25% local ingredients. With over 585 cafeterias participating in Put Local On Your Tray across Connecticut, this program is a great example of how to engage students state-wide on the importance of local, sustainable food.
